JK: THE AMERICAN AIRCHEXX INTERVIEW

THIS RARE INTERVIEW HAS BEEN LOCKED-UP IN MY ARCHIVES SINCE 1976 AND HAS NEVER BEEN MADE PUBLIC BEFORE...

It's from May 28, 1976.  Some of the jocks on this station composite include: Greg Reinhart, Ron Clay, Tom Gordon, Sam Kaiser and, my old friend, Gary "Records" Brown...plus yours truly, with Gary, on the Expanded KADI Original Oldies Show.

Our main competitors in the market at that time were KSLQ and KSHE.  As I state in the Interview, our "dial" positition was directly between those two stations, and that's the way I programmed the KADI-FM format...to reach those who would be going across-the-dial to one or the other.   We were right in the middle, and that's exactly how I locked-in the music.

IN ADDITION,  I had KADI-AM formatted with an AOR-style music list that was separate from KADI-FM.  It was a bold move, and received nationwide Industry recognition as, previously, that format had only been done on FM's. Well, in St. Louis it proved to be a success, added to our ratings and made one GREAT time for the KADI FM/AM management & sales department !

SPECIAL NOTE: KADI was one of St. Louis' legendary, landmark Radio Stations and I was very proud to be an integral part of its success and to share this truly rare piece of St. Louis Radio History with you.   JK
